Georgetown University Press Manuscript Editing Services
Georgetown University Press publishes peer-reviewed books in international affairs, foreign policy, and security, along with languages and linguistics, religion and ethics, global business and economics, and the history of the Washington, DC, region. Ethics runs through several of those lists.
Off the Grid Editing prepares manuscripts for Georgetown University Press submissions in Chicago style, or APA for social science manuscripts, and applies Georgetown's own guidelines when you send them. Our editors attend to argument structure and citation consistency. In international affairs and ethics, that often means keeping normative claims about what ought to be done separate from descriptive claims about what is the case.
Our Promise
We will ensure that the final draft you receive is completely ready to submit to Georgetown University Press. We work with you until it is ready or refund your payment in full. That commitment has held since 2002.
Our editors do not have access to your manuscript until an order is placed. Your draft is secure until you decide to proceed.
Manuscript Editing Services for Georgetown University Press
We offer three levels of manuscript editing depending on what your manuscript needs. Each is described below so you can choose the service that fits where your draft is right now.
Grammar and usage, awkward phrasing, repetition, and passive voice corrected, then clarity, concision, sentence structure, transitions, and tone, with your style manual applied throughout and a final proofread. For authors whose argument and structure are settled.
Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.
Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Georgetown University Press.
Georgetown University Press manuscripts often make normative arguments, claims about what ought to be done as well as what is the case. Our editors keep descriptive and prescriptive claims distinct, check that each normative argument has the evidence and reasoning it needs, and mark passages where the policy implications should be stated outright. Send any guidelines from your editor. Georgetown University Press describes its proposal process on its publishing with Georgetown page. If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.
