Manuscript Editing for Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies Articles

Order Manuscript Editing Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies has published intersectional, interdisciplinary, and theoretical work in women's studies for fifty years. The University of Nebraska Press publishes it, and its editors are in gender studies at the University of Utah. Alongside research articles it prints poetry, short fiction, activist statements, notes from the field, and artwork, and it encourages submissions “that cross or reexamine boundaries.”

Manuscripts run up to 12,000 words, and that count includes the endnotes, title, abstract, keywords, and sources. Notes are humanities-style endnotes in Chicago style, 18th edition, following the University of Nebraska Press house style sheet. The abstract runs to 250 words, followed by four to ten keywords. Every identifying detail comes out of the file, from the filename to the headers, and you suggest at least five peer reviewers when you submit. Off the Grid Editing removes identifiers from notes and acknowledgments as part of the edit. Submissions go through Editorial Manager, and the journal takes no email submissions.

Natural Intelligence for Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies

Natural Intelligence is our name for editorial judgment: an editor who reads your manuscript the way the editors and peer reviewers of Frontiers will and verifies every change before it comes back to you. We read as a women's studies scholar does, checking that your argument holds across the boundaries it crosses. Track Changes stays on throughout.

Our Promise

We will ensure that the final draft you receive is completely ready to submit to Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies. We work with you until it is ready or refund your payment in full. That commitment has held since 2002.

Our editors do not have access to your manuscript until an order is placed. Your draft is secure until you decide to proceed.

Manuscript Line Editing

Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.

Manuscript Proofreading

Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies.

Chicago Endnotes for Frontiers

The journal's submission guidelines cover length, the house style sheet, and anonymization. If you have reviewer comments from an earlier submission, send them with your manuscript and we will address each one. If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.

Our journal article and essay editing page explains how we edit scholarly articles, and academic proofreading is the final pass. For books, see University of Nebraska Press manuscript editing. We also prepare articles for Signs and Feminist Studies.
