Manuscript Editing for Horizons: The Journal of the College Theology Society Articles

Order Manuscript Editing Horizons is the journal of the College Theology Society, published twice a year by Cambridge University Press with its editorial office at Villanova University. Rooted in the Catholic tradition of “faith seeking understanding,” it describes itself as ecumenical and publishes articles, roundtables, and book reviews across theology and religious studies. Society membership is not required to submit.

Articles run 25 to 30 pages, about 10,000 words, before notes. Notes follow the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition, with full documentation at the first note and shortened forms after that, and there is no bibliography. Greek and Hebrew follow the SBL transliteration system, and biblical citations go in parentheses in the text with the translation named. The abstract, up to 150 words, goes on a separate title page with up to eight keywords and a 50-word vita. Review is double-anonymized. Off the Grid Editing applies the journal's style guide to church documents and Scripture citations. You email the Word file to the editors.

Human Manuscript Editor

Natural Intelligence for Horizons

Natural Intelligence is our name for editorial judgment: an editor who reads your manuscript the way the editors and peer reviewers of Horizons will and verifies every change before it comes back to you. We read as a theologian does, checking how your argument handles Scripture and the tradition. Track Changes stays on throughout.

Our Promise

We will ensure that the final draft you receive is completely ready to submit to Horizons. We work with you until it is ready or refund your payment in full. That commitment has held since 2002.

Our editors do not have access to your manuscript until an order is placed. Your draft is secure until you decide to proceed.

Manuscript Line Editing

Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.

Manuscript Proofreading

Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Horizons.
