Manuscript Editing for Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion Articles
The Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion calls itself “the oldest interdisciplinary, interreligious feminist academic journal in religious studies.” Since 1985, Feminist Studies in Religion, Inc. has published it twice a year with Indiana University Press. It sits where feminist theory meets the study of religion and welcomes work from all traditions and historical periods, including work on the intersections of gender, race, and class.
Articles run around 7,500 words, footnotes included. Notes follow the Chicago Manual of Style as the journal's style sheet sets out, and no bibliography is needed. A 150-word abstract goes with each submission. At least two reviewers read anonymously, so identifying details come out of the footnotes and the file properties as well as the text. Languages other than English are transliterated, and all text is set in Times New Roman. Off the Grid Editing checks the footnotes and file properties for identifiers before you submit. Submissions go through the journal's online system.

Manuscript Editing and Proofreading for the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion
We offer three levels of manuscript editing depending on what your manuscript needs. Each is described below so you can choose the service that fits where your draft is right now.
Grammar and usage, awkward phrasing, repetition, and passive voice corrected, then clarity, concision, sentence structure, transitions, and tone, with your style manual applied throughout and a final proofread. For authors whose argument and structure are settled.
Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.
Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion.
The journal's submission guidelines cover length, notes, and anonymization. If you have reviewer comments from an earlier submission, send them with your manuscript and we will address each one. If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.
Our journal article and essay editing page explains how we edit scholarly articles, and academic proofreading is the final pass. We also prepare articles for Feminist Studies and Signs.
