Manuscript Editing for Journal of Medieval and Early Modern Studies Articles

Order Manuscript Editing The Journal of Medieval and Early Modern Studies publishes interdisciplinary work on European and western Asian cultural forms from late antiquity to the seventeenth century. Its range runs from art, literature, and theater to theology, history, and material objects. Duke University Press publishes it three times a year, and its academic editors are at Duke University.

Manuscripts run no more than 10,000 words, notes included, for themed special issues and open-topic issues announced by call. Citations follow the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition, chapter 13, in endnotes with no reference list. Later citations use a short form, and frequently cited primary sources may be cited in the text after the first note. The journal avoids ibid., idem, op. cit., passim, and similar terms. Original-language quotations come first, followed by a bracketed translation, and non-Latin alphabets are transliterated. Review is anonymous. Off the Grid Editing sets the endnotes in Chicago form and checks each translation against its source. Submissions go through ScholarOne.
