Manuscript Editing for Leiden Journal of International Law Articles

Order Manuscript Editing Founded in 1988, the Leiden Journal of International Law offers “an open access venue for sharp and critical voices that speak on the theory and practice of international law.” Its focus covers legal theory, international criminal law, and international courts and tribunals. Cambridge University Press publishes it quarterly, and it is edited at Leiden Law School.

Articles usually run 8,000 to 12,000 words. Citations follow LJIL's own rules in footnotes: the first reference in full, later ones with supra or infra, ibid. only for the immediately preceding source, and no p. or pp. The abstract runs up to 250 words, with five keywords. Review is double-blind, so submissions carry no thanks or identifying self-citations. The journal asks that “All submissions should be written in good English (UK spelling preferred).” Off the Grid Editing edits to that standard and applies the LJIL citation rules. Submissions go through ScholarOne.

Manuscript Line Editing

Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.

Manuscript Proofreading

Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Leiden Journal of International Law.

LJIL Footnotes and UK Spelling

If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.

Our journal article and essay editing page explains how we edit legal scholarship, and academic proofreading covers the final check.
