Milkweed Editions publishes nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and translation. It is a nonprofit. Its nonfiction includes nature writing and environmental memoir alongside literary creative nonfiction, and its translations bring writers from other languages to English-language readers.
Off the Grid Editing prepares nature writing, memoir, fiction, and poetry manuscripts for writers aiming at Milkweed Editions. Writing about the natural world asks for precision twice over, once in the names and facts and once in the sentences, and we edit for both while keeping every fact and claim as you wrote it. We work in Chicago style. When you send guidelines from the press, we apply them.

Manuscript Editing Services for Milkweed Editions

Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.
Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Milkweed Editions.
