Restless Books is an independent nonprofit publisher of international literature for adults and young readers. Its list includes memoir, nonfiction, and literature in translation, and the press counts the celebration of immigrant writing as part of its mission, along with bringing literature to underserved communities. It is based in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Off the Grid Editing prepares manuscripts for authors and translators whose work is headed to Restless Books. A translated or multilingual manuscript raises its own questions of consistency, since names, transliterations, and words left in the original language have to be handled the same way on page three hundred as on page three. We follow the choices you made. We work in Chicago style and apply the press’s own guidelines when you send them.

Manuscript Editing Services for Restless Books

Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.
Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Restless Books.
Restless Books publishes international literature, including memoir, nonfiction, and work in translation. Its contact page describes how manuscripts reach the press. If you have received editorial guidelines or reader feedback from Restless Books, include them with your manuscript and we will address them throughout our edit.
