Manuscript Editing for Slavic Review Journal Articles

Order Manuscript Editing Published since 1941, Slavic Review is an interdisciplinary journal “devoted to the study of eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, past and present.” Cambridge University Press publishes it quarterly for the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies, and it is edited at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Standalone articles run about 8,000 words of text plus about 3,000 words of footnotes, with both counts on the cover page. Citations follow the Chicago Manual of Style in footnotes, with no bibliography; notes give place and year of publication but not the publisher. Transliteration follows the Library of Congress system. A removable cover page carries an abstract of about 150 words and a 75-word biography. Review is double-anonymous, and authors must be ASEEES members to publish. Off the Grid Editing converts in-text citations to footnotes and checks every transliteration. Submissions go through ScholarOne.

Human Manuscript Editor

Natural Intelligence for Slavic Review

Natural Intelligence is our name for editorial judgment: an editor who reads your manuscript the way Slavic Review's editors and peer reviewers will and verifies every change before it comes back to you. We read as a Slavist does, checking that names and titles are transliterated the same way every time. Track Changes stays on throughout.

Our Promise

We will ensure that the final draft you receive is completely ready to submit to Slavic Review. We work with you until it is ready or refund your payment in full. That commitment has held since 2002.

Our editors do not have access to your manuscript until an order is placed. Your draft is secure until you decide to proceed.

Manuscript Editing and Proofreading for Slavic Review

We offer three levels of manuscript editing depending on what your manuscript needs. Each is described below so you can choose the service that fits where your draft is right now.

Manuscript Copy Editing

Grammar and usage, awkward phrasing, repetition, and passive voice corrected, then clarity, concision, sentence structure, transitions, and tone, with your style manual applied throughout and a final proofread. For authors whose argument and structure are settled.

Manuscript Line Editing

Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.

Manuscript Proofreading

Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Slavic Review.

Chicago Footnotes and Library of Congress Transliteration

Cambridge's author instructions cover length, notes, and transliteration. If you have reviewer comments from an earlier submission, send them with your manuscript and we will address each one. If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.

See journal article and essay editing for how we edit scholarly articles, and academic proofreading for the last read before submission. If English is your second language, see English language editing for researchers. For books, see Cambridge University Press manuscript editing. We also prepare articles for the International Journal of Middle East Studies and The American Historical Review.
