Manuscript Editing for American Indian Culture and Research Journal Articles
The American Indian Culture and Research Journal has been published by the UCLA American Indian Studies Center since the 1970s. It is now fully open access on eScholarship, with no fees to publish. It carries scholarly essays and commentaries on Indigenous peoples across the Americas, widening the field's long focus on North America to the whole hemisphere, and it reviews books, films, and exhibitions.
Essays run up to 10,000 words including notes and works cited, and pieces under 7,500 are often returned. Each one must engage Indigenous studies scholarship from the past eight years. Notes are endnotes in Chicago style, with no references in the body text and DOIs given as full links. Two reviewers read every essay anonymously. Our essay editing checks that your literature review reaches recent work and that the endnotes follow the journal's rules. You submit through eScholarship.
Our Promise
We will ensure that the final draft you receive is completely ready to submit to American Indian Culture and Research Journal. We work with you until it is ready or refund your payment in full. That commitment has held since 2002.
Our editors do not have access to your manuscript until an order is placed. Your draft is secure until you decide to proceed.
Essay Editing and Proofreading for the American Indian Culture and Research Journal
We offer three levels of manuscript editing depending on what your manuscript needs. Each is described below so you can choose the service that fits where your draft is right now.
Grammar and usage, awkward phrasing, repetition, and passive voice corrected, then clarity, concision, sentence structure, transitions, and tone, with your style manual applied throughout and a final proofread. For authors whose argument and structure are settled.
Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.
Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to American Indian Culture and Research Journal.
The journal's submission guidelines cover length, notes, and the cover page. If you have reviewer comments from an earlier submission, send them with your manuscript and we will address each one. If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.
See journal article and essay editing for how we work on scholarly essays, and academic proofreading for the last read before submission. We also prepare articles for American Indian Quarterly, and manuscript editing services lays out each level of editing we offer.
