Manuscript Editing for Ethnomusicology Journal Articles

Order Manuscript Editing Ethnomusicology is the official journal of the Society for Ethnomusicology, publishing articles that “represent current theoretical perspectives and research in ethnomusicology and related fields.” Its readers include musicologists, anthropologists, folklorists, and musicians. The University of Illinois Press has published it three times a year since the 1950s, and its editor is at the Ethnomusicology Institute (INET-md) at NOVA University Lisbon.

Articles run 8,000 to 10,000 words, notes and references included. Citations follow the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition, author-date, with SEM's variations: each author's works are listed most recent first, and an edited collection's page number follows the editor's name. Illustrations are labeled Table, Music Example, or Figure, with Audio and Video Examples for media. The abstract runs no more than 250 words, with three to five keywords. Written permissions for copyrighted material go in with the first submission. Review is double-anonymous, by at least two reviewers. Off the Grid Editing applies SEM's variations and labels each example consistently. Submissions go through Scholastica.
