Manuscript Editing for Journal of Ecumenical Studies Articles

Order Manuscript Editing Founded at Temple University in 1964 by Arlene and Leonard Swidler, the Journal of Ecumenical Studies was the first peer-reviewed journal in interreligious dialogue. It grew from the ecumenical spirit of Vatican II and now publishes work on “any dimension of dialogue or engagement within or among religious traditions.” The Dialogue Institute edits it at Temple University, and the University of Pennsylvania Press handles its quarterly production.

Manuscripts preferably run 15 to 35 pages, about 4,000 to 9,000 words, and discursive footnotes stay under 200 words. Notes are complete footnotes, generally following the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition. You submit five items: a cover letter on the manuscript's fit, the anonymized manuscript, an abstract of 75 to 125 words, keywords, and a current CV. After an internal review against a published rubric, two or three outside readers assess the work. Off the Grid Editing trims discursive notes to the limit. Submissions go through Scholastica as Word files.
