Manuscript Editing for The Journal of Hindu Studies Articles
The Journal of Hindu Studies is published by Oxford University Press in partnership with the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, where its editorial office sits on Magdalen Street. It takes a critical approach to the field, centering its larger questions and encouraging discussion across disciplines. Alongside peer-reviewed articles, it carries critical translations of South Asian texts and work from the Centre's research initiatives and symposia.
South Asian languages are transliterated in ISO 15919 and set in a Unicode font. Spelling is British, quotation marks are single, and every non-English word except a proper name goes in italics. Citations use the journal's own author-date style with endnotes, and the bibliography divides primary from secondary sources. Research articles ideally run 8,000 to 12,000 words, with an abstract of 100 to 150 words. Off the Grid Editing checks every diacritic against ISO 15919. Review is double-blind, and manuscripts go through ScholarOne.

Manuscript Editing and Proofreading for The Journal of Hindu Studies
We offer three levels of manuscript editing depending on what your manuscript needs. Each is described below so you can choose the service that fits where your draft is right now.
Grammar and usage, awkward phrasing, repetition, and passive voice corrected, then clarity, concision, sentence structure, transitions, and tone, with your style manual applied throughout and a final proofread. For authors whose argument and structure are settled.
Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.
Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to The Journal of Hindu Studies.
Oxford's general instructions cover the style guide, transliteration, and alt text. If you have reviewer comments from an earlier submission, send them with your manuscript and we will address each one. If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.
