Manuscript Editing for The Professional Geographer Journal Articles

Order Manuscript Editing The Professional Geographer focuses on short articles in academic and applied geography, with an emphasis on empirical studies and methods. It is a journal of the American Association of Geographers, and Taylor & Francis publishes it six times a year. It also prints forums, commentaries, and research notes.

Regular manuscripts run no more than 5,000 words, excluding the abstract, references, notes, tables, and figure captions. Research notes run no more than 2,500 words, references and notes included, with at most four tables or figures. Citations are author-date, following the Taylor & Francis US Chicago guide as directed by the journal's style sheet. Three to five keywords, alphabetized and italicized, close the abstract. Software and datasets are cited with name, version, maker, and DOI where possible. Author information is left out of the version sent for review. Off the Grid Editing applies the style sheet and keeps a short article within its limit. Submissions go through ScholarOne.

Human Manuscript Editor

Natural Intelligence for The Professional Geographer

Natural Intelligence is our name for editorial judgment: an editor who reads your manuscript the way The Professional Geographer's editors and peer reviewers will and verifies every change before it comes back to you. We read as an applied geographer does, checking that each method, variable, and study area is described consistently. Track Changes stays on throughout.

Our Promise

We will ensure that the final draft you receive is completely ready to submit to The Professional Geographer. We work with you until it is ready or refund your payment in full. That commitment has held since 2002.

Our editors do not have access to your manuscript until an order is placed. Your draft is secure until you decide to proceed.

Manuscript Editing and Proofreading for The Professional Geographer

We offer three levels of manuscript editing depending on what your manuscript needs. Each is described below so you can choose the service that fits where your draft is right now.

Manuscript Copy Editing

Grammar and usage, awkward phrasing, repetition, and passive voice corrected, then clarity, concision, sentence structure, transitions, and tone, with your style manual applied throughout and a final proofread. For authors whose argument and structure are settled.

Manuscript Line Editing

Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.

Manuscript Proofreading

Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to The Professional Geographer.

A 5,000-Word Limit for The Professional Geographer

If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.

See journal article and essay editing for how we edit geography research, and academic proofreading for the last read before submission.
