Manuscript Editing for Journal of the History of Biology Articles
Published since 1968, the Journal of the History of Biology is devoted to the history of the biological sciences and to the philosophical and social questions biology raises. It welcomes all periods, with particular attention to modern biology. Springer Nature publishes it, and its editors-in-chief are at UNSW Sydney and the University of Florida.
The journal publishes research articles, review articles, and comments, with no word limit stated. Citations are author-date with an alphabetical reference list and DOIs as full links. Discursive notes go in footnotes, which should never hold only a citation. Spelling follows Webster's New International Dictionary, 3rd edition. The abstract runs 150 to 250 words, followed by four to six keywords. Review is double-anonymous. Off the Grid Editing applies the journal's instructions when you send them, including its reference style, and moves bare citations out of the footnotes. Submissions go through the Springer Nature submission portal.

Our editors do not have access to your manuscript until an order is placed. Your draft is secure until you decide to proceed.
Manuscript Editing and Proofreading for the Journal of the History of Biology
We offer three levels of manuscript editing depending on what your manuscript needs. Each is described below so you can choose the service that fits where your draft is right now.
Grammar and usage, awkward phrasing, repetition, and passive voice corrected, then clarity, concision, sentence structure, transitions, and tone, with your style manual applied throughout and a final proofread. For authors whose argument and structure are settled.
Clarity, emphasis, and paragraph structure: topic sentences, transitions, and sentences reordered within a paragraph, with every fact and claim kept as you wrote it. Includes copy editing and a final proofread.
Spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, grammar, and usage corrected with minimal wording changes, for manuscripts that have been edited and need a last check before submission to Journal of the History of Biology.
Springer's submission guidelines cover references, footnotes, and abstracts. If you have reviewer comments from an earlier submission, send them with your manuscript and we will address each one. If you have questions about which service is right for your manuscript, contact us directly. We respond to every inquiry the same day during business hours.
See journal article and essay editing for how we edit historical scholarship, and academic proofreading for the last read before submission. If English is your second language, see English language editing for researchers. For books, see Springer Nature manuscript editing. We also prepare articles for The British Journal for the History of Science and Isis.
